Plastic Wear Bar for the Warn Plow

So the make-shift plastic wear bar works great!  After several serious plowing sessions the plastic is holding up wonderfully.

I acquired two 20 foot lengths of this plastic gardening border when it must have fallen out of somebody's truck last summer.  I moved it out of the middle of the road and when it wasn't claimed I moved it to my garage.

The material is not too dense and approximately 5"x1" and is soft enough to be used on anybody's fancy driveway without fear of damage.  The fact of the matter is that the skids take the brunt of the wear or this wear bar would wear out very often.  I drilled the holes in the middle of the plastic so I can reverse it and get double the use and I put the old wear bar over the top to help secure it all to the plow.

First Plow of the Season!! Go Big Red!!!!

L was on the shovel and I was on the plow.  We cleared the drive, sidewalks, some of the road, our neighbor's sidewalks and enjoyed every frostbit minute of it.  L earned $2.  I'll get video next time, the YouTube video from last year has over 4500 views!!!!
Bottom picture is post plowing hat head.

A little fork in South SLC

I was jealous that everyone went out for a nice mountain ride so I pushed the Big Red off the trailer this evening, grabbed some water and a cell phone, and headed up to territory previously undiscovered by me.   I have become a complete addict to this ATV stuff, I think I could spend all day out riding.  This evening the temperature was probably in the mid 80s with a hint of a breeze and a clear and clean sky.  I spent about 1.5 hours riding but it felt like minutes.  Here's a little of what I saw.

Here's D right after his wife gave him the wonderous '83 Honda 250R ATC Astro Conversion Quad.  Check out how quickly it starts up.

Yamaha BW 80 is SOLD!

We sold the little bike today!  I actually made $75 on it.  It was a great little bike, but we need another ATV for the little ones.  Now my KSL searches will have more purpose.

D put his Brute Force up for sale or trade, and it sounds like he has got some good responses back.  I fully expect him to have a sweet ride in the next week or so.

Also D has been getting the 250R ATC/V ready for the season in hopes of trading it or making a buck on it.

Big Red with Chains

:)

I had to put some pics of the Big Red with the chains on. I modded them so they fit really nice and tight, and they work great! I plowed today and it was great. The Big Red even drives pretty good in the snow, kind of floats on the snow (I only got stuck once). The only negative is it is a little bumpy when you get going. I love it, this is the most fun I have had in the snow in years.

Snow again soon, please!

Now I need a wind shield and a front tire.

Plowing with the ATC

Some video of me plowing. It took some getting used to but I think I have almost figured it out.

24 Dec 2009
Christmas eve I took back the chains that were the wrong size and got the right ones from Cabelas. After a little modification I got them on and took them out to try. They help so much! Now I won't get stuck, well at least I will be able to back up when I do. Pretty cool! I think this is my best Christmas present ever!

Hope it snows again soon!!!!

I found my 1984 Honda Big Red 200ES!!!

Last night and this morning I posted a WTB add in a couple spots on KSL's classifieds. Response was limited but successful. And I got a little note from KSL for posting my ad in the wrong place. It was worth it I had an older gentleman in my same town call and express interest, but he wanted to work some kind of joint-ownership timeshare thing, so I went to look. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for, it had the busted front shocks. Another fellow down in Payson had one that was in good mechanical condition but really ugly, so of course I was interested. I am heading down in a few minutes to see if it is all he says it is, and I am excited!

Here are a couple of the pictures he sent of this almost 26 year old classic.

No rear fender, ripped seat, almost bald front tire, yep this the one.

My favorite part is it is already tagged and good till next year!

Dunage!!!!

We got stuck here and there.

Way up on a berg.

D pooped out completely.

J cheesing it up with the 250R.

View from the top of the mountain!

Working out the kinks.

This is how happy you are when you are playing in the sand.

Pred and dead Raptor on the trailer.

Nice place to relax.

$10 bucks to mix up 4 gallons of 2 stroke full for the 250R, but still worth it.

There was literally only a few tablespoons of fuel left in D's bike by the time we got back to refuel.

Save the Bergs!!!

What a day! Started very early for me, 0330. Loaded up the Raptor and hitched up the trailer and off I went to pick up J in "Happy Valley." Everything went smoothly, and I arrived right on time. Ten minutes later the Predator was loaded and we headed off to D's house. Once there we ate some breakfast burritos and loaded up D's 250R (J2's Raptor was in the back of D's truck). We made good time down to the dunes and arrived just as the sun was breaking over the horizon. Took no time to unload, and just a little time to pump up tires (J2's tires were flat) and put on paddles. Then D took his first ride on the 250R (I've got vid of it). Eventually we saddled up and went out (D was on J2's Raptor). We made it up to the top of the mountain when D's chain came off and bound up, so back down the hill we went to fix the problem. At the base we learned that J2's bike wasn't registered and needed some serious repair that we couldn't do there. So, D, always the trooper, jumped on the 250R, which has no brakes! And we had some great riding.

Adventures:
How to get D over the hill without brakes?
How to not kill D on rides that you really should have brakes?
D's bike gets really bad gas mileage, where do we find more 2stroke oil?

All in all a great ride, I am sore from it.

Wonderful place to play!!!!!!!!
